We have an URGENT requirement for a:

SALES ASSISTANT (TEMPORARY CONTRACT) - 24 hours per week Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat (11:00am - 5.30pm)

We are looking for a Sales Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis at our Bucklersbury shop in Hitchin town centre. This position is initially for a 6 week period to cover staff absence, but maybe potential for further extension depending on the business needs. 

Qualities required:

  • The ideal candidate will have a friendly, confident personality and have excellent customer service skills - greet customers and assist them to find the products to meet their requirements.  
  • Sales/Retail experience preferred.
  • Creative - be able to display stock to attract customers and assist with window displays. 
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Be able to use initiative to provide/suggest solutions to problems.
  • Experience in handling cash/credit transactions would be an advantage.
  • Good level of fitness.
  • Flexibility to cover staff shortages.

We have an URGENT requirement for a:

BUILDERS MERCHANT SALES ASSISTANT - 40 hours per week Monday to Friday (Sat on a rota basis)

This is an exciting opportunity to join our established Yard Sales team at Bilton Road, Hitchin. We are looking for an enthusiastic person to help us increase sales and provide excellent customer service. The right candidate will be flexible and willing to learn all aspects of a busy Builders Merchants. 

Qualities required:

  • Sales experience preferred
  • Experience of working a busy sales environment, preferably in a Builders Merchants
  • Excellent customer service
  • Knowledge of building materials/timber preferable 
  • Good telephone manner
  • Forklift license desirable - but training will be given
  • Clean driving license an advantage - ability to drive company vehicles to help with stock transfers and deliveries as and when necessary
  • Able to cover Heavyside and Lightside sales counters
  • Able to provide cover for Yard duties including unloading/loading vehicles
  • Awareness of Health and Safety regulations
  • Knowledge of security procedures and issues
  • Able to remain calm under pressure
  • Flexible approach
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently
  • Good levels of fitness
  • First Aid/Fire Marshall qualification desirable (training will be provided)

Start dates: ASAP
